[Summary: slow, jerky mouse movement & connection breaks]

A LAN with VNC servers on WinNT and Win98 machines works perfectly
with client on a Win98 machine on the LAN. A Virtual Private Network
is set up; other machines can connect stably and well to the network
over the VPN (ADSL 512/256 at both ends). The following happens; I
haven't yet done the necessary tests, but will ask first in case
there's a quick answer. VNC client on Win98SE connects to VNC servers
on the remote LAN, but the remote (arrow) mouse cursor lags the local
(dot) cursor. It stops, then makes a sudden large movement and
repeats until it catches up. After a while the VNC connection always
breaks:
rdr::Exception: rdr::SystemException: read: Unknown error (10054)

This happens with different versions of the Windows VNC client & of
the server.

At the moment there's a perfectly working wireless network involved
at the remote end (remote has Prism II-chipped wireless NIC with
latest driver; tested with standard Windows SVGA driver & PS/2 mouse
driver), and I haven't yet tested with other remote hardware, wired
connections, etc.

But if this is a known issue, I'd be grateful for any information. I
didn't find anything in the archive, though I expect it's there.

Best wishes,
