It sounds like you are describing bug 63853 which RH has fixed:

You can probably download the newer version from http://rpmfind.net , but be
prepared to recompile from source if necessary.

Another option would be to try RealVNC 3.3.6 or TightVNC 1.2.8:

Redhat's version I believe is based on an older version of RealVNC (version
3.3.3r2 to be precise) but with Tight encoding added.  That means that in
this case TightVNC might be a better fit for your environment.
