A few things:

- when on your lan, always use the lan's internal adresses, but I think you know that.
- try viewing home desk 1 from home desk 2 and vice-versa
- if the above does work, it's something with the wireless stuff. Have you done things 
to secure the wireless that might interfere here?
- if the above does not work, then it's something inside the linksys routing stuff. 
Since you can connect other ways, the only thing affecting vnc, I think, is the port 
forwarding you've set up. So try disabling those. If that doesn't change anything...
