RENDER support is kind of in the 4.0beta3 tarball, although it doesn't
work for me.  But for pixmaps depths >= 16 the RENDER extension is
listed in xdpyinfo.

I had to turn RENDER off completely to get a useful session though
(see my previous messages).

The other point to note is that surely KDE ought to work in the
absence of extensions?  Or does it now *require* RENDER to functon?
