Months ago, I uninstalled win vnc then I reinstalled
it. I then found out that I wasn't able to run vnc
server on my win 2000 machine.
Whenever I clicked on the 'run vnc server' shortcut, I
would get a dialog box saying that another instance of
vnc server is running.
So I checked entries in the registry and tried to
delete them. But I got error messages saying they
entries can't be deleted. The entries were:
My
Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\ControlSet001\Enum\Root\Legacy_WinVNC
My
Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\ControlSet002\Enum\Root\Legacy_WinVNC
My
Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\CurrentControlSet\Enum\Root\Legacy_WinVNC
By the way, in the process of uninstalling VNC, I get
a dialog box stating 'WARNING: The ServiceHelper hook
entry could not be removed from the registry'
when I close it, I get a dialog box with 'The WinVNC
service could not be found'
and then 'VNC was successfully removed from your
computer'
I thought I was running vnc server as a service before
uninstalling it the first time, that might have messed
things up. But when I checked the Services running on
my machine('Control Panel' -> 'Administrative tools'
-> 'Services'), 'VNC' wasn't amongst the list of
services.
Also, I've tried the vnc uninstall and reinstall many
times, and haven't been able to run the server.
How could I get VNC server running again? How could I
get rid of the registry entries? so I could reinstall
win VNC.
Thanks in advanced.
