In order to get VNC to work on a D-Link router first get the most updated firmware (2.10 as of 9/4/03) then you have to go into the setup (default is http://192.168.0.1 in your internet browser) then select advanced along the top, then select virtual server along the left and then choose/enter:

enabled
name:VNC
Private IP:<enter your computers private ip, which you can get from winipconfig, or ipconfig>
Protocol Type: TCP
Private Port: <the private port you will be using. in the options you select a number for "display number" (you must take off the auto checkbox) this is equal to that number plus 5900 so if you put "1" in your "display number" you would put 5901>
Public Port: <this will be the same as the private port to simplify things>
Schedule: Always

Ok, I use the D-Link DI-704P Router. When I go into Advanced|Virtual Server I do not have all the options you are speaking of. I have the latest firmware update (V2.74).

All I have is:

Enable: (Checkbox)
Service Ports: ____________ Well Known Services: (Dropdown menu)
Service IP: 192.168.0.___
Schedule: (Radio) Always
          (Radio) From Time...Day, etc.

I'm guessing:

Enable: Checked
Service Ports: 5901
Service IP: 192.168.0.(my IP setting)
Schedule: (selected) Always

Is this correct?

Thanks in advance,

Brian Howe.
