I have 2 computers both set up next to each other and both with monitors. What I want to do is remote control one from the other but without piping the display to the client computer.

Basically I want one keyboard and mouse to control 2 computers without a switcher box (too many cables!). VNC is almost perfect - it doesn't block the original monitor from viewing the display (like Microsofts RDC) and can switch resolutions (disconnects but re-connection is easy)

Can VNC be set up to do this? I don't think it can - any other options?

What would be really great is this: Imagine controlling 2 computers like you would a dual screen setup. ie. On the right hand screen is computer A, and if the mouse touches the left hand edge of that screen it jumps to control computer B. Keyboard input would go to the computer with the pointer.

It must possible. Virtual PC for example has very similar edge detection which passes the pointer in and out of the virtual desktop and VNC can remote control the other computer very well.

Any thoughts?
