If, nothing changed on your home network, I would try vncviewer from someone else's network. It is possible your work is filtering the ports. Try it from a dial-up account.
Since gotomyvnc shows that it is working, I really think its your work's network. If, so try using port 80, if you do not run a webserver. Or ports for services which would be open like FTP, SOCKS POP3, etc. If, you change the ports you will have to explicitly enter them when trying to connect. Not being to ping a firewall is common, now. Most networks attempt to offer as little evidence of their existance as possible.
