On Windows 2003 boxes, VNC appears to occasionally cause the login screen (once you hit control-alt-delete) to appear with all inputs grayed out. I have a screenshot if anyone wants to see it. Through a partner of mine, I have opened a case with Microsoft, and have actually reached a real live developer who can help.
They have pinpointed the problem (reported to them at least a dozen times) to be interaction between VNC and the GINA.DLL or MSGINA.DLL files. More info on those files is available at: http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/en-us/security/security/gina.asp and http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/en-us/security/security/msgina_dll_feature s.asp . Does VNC replace either file with its own? Does it modify either file? Does it interact with either file? Please let me know anything that is known about this issue, so I can continue the conversation with Microsoft, and hopefully come to some conclusion.
