All, Just was troubleshooting a VNC connection for an hour and it boiled down to this:
Norton Anti virus 2005 has an option called Internet worm protection that it installs and enables by default. This functions as a software firewall on your computer and will prevent VNC from working when it is first installed as it blocks incoming traffic. If you already use a BETTER firewall (e.g zone alarm, agentium, pc-cillin) then just turn this off here's a link on how to add exceptions (could this lik be any longer) http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/nav.nsf/5faa3ca6df6f549888256edd0061c0a4/da49e4a9698ad7db88256f0e005f0537?OpenDocument&prod=Norton%20AntiVirus&ver=2005&src=sg&pcode=nav&svy=&csm=no Just wanted to let the list know about this. This was a new "feature" in 2005. as if XP firewall doesn't cause me enough headaches. --Angelo _______________________________________________ VNC-List mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] To remove yourself from the list visit: http://www.realvnc.com/mailman/listinfo/vnc-list
