I found out that we could not connect from a 4.0 viewer to a 4.0 server unless the port was seperated from the pc name/ip addess by a "::" instead of a ":" the way it was in 3.3.7 or 3.3.9. By specifing the port with the :: we were able to get connected fine.
Now we run into the issue of 75% of our machines are running version 3.3.7 or 3.3.9, and we need them to be consistent. We have a process that runs on login that captures all our users pc names, ip addresses and login times so we can use another program we wrote that gives us the seachable list that was can use to easily connect to any user nomatter where in the company they are. We now have to rewite this so It launches with the correct port specifications. We are trying to remove the previous versions and get the new one installed remotely across 400+ machines. I was searching the archives, and could only find the answer to this for an old version from 2000. Here's what I have so far: Can can anyone tell me if this is right, or what I need to change? 1. Stop the service with "net stop winvnc". 2. execute "C:\program files\ORL\VNC\winvnc.exe -remove" 3. rd c:\progra~1\orl /q /s 4. at this point it I'm kinda stuck. There seems to be a couple different ways of installing it silently in the archives, but I can't seem to get any of them to work without coming up and still prompting for the port and password to be entered. Also there's nothing on the website that I can find on how to get it to install silently and specify a password and port. Can anyone assist me in getting it installed silently? We are using Altiris to push this out so we can easily push out reg entries or files, or execute command lines. I just need to know what to execute.
