Please excuse me if this is a FAQ. I've just recently subscribed, and I
didn't find the answer I needed from searching the archives (which,
hopefully, isn't indicative of poor search skills!). If this is a FAQ,
I'd appreciate any pointers to information posted elsewhere.

At the College I work at, we primarily support Windows XP and Mac OS X
on our desktop computers. All of our "Technology-Enhanced Classrooms"
have a Windows XP computer in them. We'd like to be able to allow
faculty/staff who use the Windows XP computers in the
Technology-Enhanced Classrooms to connect to the Windows XP or Mac OS X
computer on their desktops in their offices, not only for
files/programs/etc. but also because they are used to the way their
computer is set up, and they are sometimes less than happy when
computers in Technology-Enhanced Classrooms don't work EXACTLY like
theirs.

For Windows XP, the built-in Remote Desktop feature is probably
sufficient. However, we are looking for a solution that would allow
access to and control of Mac OS X computers from Windows XP computers.

An additional requirement is that the connectivity is secure. One final
item, which is either a requirement (according to some) or a strongly
desirable item (according to others) is that it authenticates against
Microsoft's Active Directory. This is where my big questions arise.
So, the questions are:

(1) does the VNC Server run on Mac OS X?
(2) can a WinXP VNC client connect securely to a Mac OS X VNC server?
(3) will it authenticate against Active Directory?

I know that the Enterprise product is out now, but I was unable to
discover from the Web site how far it would go in addressing our
requirements and desires.

Can anyone shed any light on this for me? Sincere thanks in advance for
any help!
