I use my own proprietary routines which hook into the Windows multimedia
system. I can choose from the supported on-the-fly codecs, including OGG
and GSM. We use GSM usually. I use the waveIn and waveOut functions in
the MM MFC libraries.

In fact, the PC that does the viewing (ie. that spawns VNCViewer) does
*not* have any VNC stuff installed on it. It launches a copy of the
VNCViewer executable held on a shared network drive.

Consequently, this will not do anything. I'm sure there is a Windows MFC
technique that allows closure of running apps, but I'm trying to avoid
using PIDs and the like. I looked the the FindWindow techniques, but VNC
Viewer assigns the name of the viewed workstation as the title for the
window, and this could be anything, so I cannot specify the text to
search for in FindWindow. Any ideas anyone? TIA,
