personally, I would like to have the option of uninstalling microsoft's remote support. I consider something I can't turn off or remove (the checkbox doesn't mean much) to be a higher threat. if the door is there, no matter how well closed and locked, it can be broken into. yes, I would consider vnc to be a threat as well, especially if I didn't install it. but I do have the option to remove vnc.
as to microsoft's idea of timeliness... the code red fixes come to mind... --- erik -----Original Message----- From: evets dranem [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Monday, May 23, 2005 21:53 To: [email protected] Cc: Erik Soderquist Subject: Re: Microsoft AntiSpyware Beta Erik Soderquist wrote: >what user *chooses* to install microsoft's remote support? > >-----Original Message----- >From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On >Behalf Of evets dranem >Sent: Saturday, May 21, 2005 09:26 >To: [email protected] >Subject: Re: Microsoft AntiSpyware Beta > >Thomas, Robb (Alberni) wrote: > > >>Just noticed that VNC shows up as a "Moderate Threat" in the beta >>version of Microsoft anti-spyware. Meanwhile the remote support(built into XP) does not show up as a "moderate threat".
