Here is mine. It works fine on Solaris 8 & 10, as well as Linux:

    #!/bin/sh

    # Red Hat Linux VNC session startup script
    [ -r $HOME/.Xresources ] && xrdb $HOME/.Xresources
    xsetroot -solid grey
    xterm -geometry 80x24+10+10 -ls -title "$VNCDESKTOP Desktop" &
    vncconfig -nowin&

    if [ -f /usr/bin/startkde ]; then
        /usr/bin/startkde
    elif [ -f /usr/dt/bin/dtwm ]; then
        /usr/dt/bin/dtwm &
    elif [ -f /usr/bin/gnome-session ]; then
        /usr/bin/gnome-session
    else
        twm &
    fi
