On the XP machine, add the VNC Server application to the permitted
applications. Not just port 5900.

Subject: Problems with connectons behind router and firewall only

I'm writing from Italy, English is not my mother tongue, I hope you all
will understand my 'broken' english.

I've installed realvnc server 4.1.1 free edition on three PC connected
to the same LAN:

- windows 2000
- windows xp pro sp2
- windows 98

From PC's belonging to the same LAN I can connect to each one of these
machines using realvnc viewer 4.1.1 free edition and eveything is
funcitoning as expected.

My problem is the following: from PC's outside the lan I can connect
only with the windows 2000 PC, I think the router and the firewall are
correctly configured, the log file of the windows XP firewall reports
connection opening and suddenly closing, on the client side the viewer
simply disappears without any message. Trying to debug using telnet on
port 5900+N (in this case 5901, 5902, 5903) when connecting to the
machine with windows 2000 installed I get an "RFB 003.008" message and
the the connection is closed. When I try the same on the other machines
I get the
connecting message and then nothing happens, the telnet session simply
hangs on without any other message. Looking at firewall and router logs
it seems the the traffic is routed correctly to destination. I've spent
all day reading howtos on internet but haven't found the solution. Any
suggestions? Thanks a lot.

    Stefano
