Perhaps you have missed the xvnc man page on the link provided by WEZ? There's an option you could pass to xvnc if you want to change the port from default: "-rfbport port Specifies the TCP port on which Xvnc listens for connections from viewers (the protocol used in VNC is called RFB - "remote framebuffer"). The default is 5900 plus the display number." man xvnc on your Linux machine has all the info you need.
