James - I came across this discussion thread while searching for info related to this issue. I signed up for the discussion list but I could not figure out how to continue or add to an existing discussion thread.
* I am having exactly the same issue as described below. I have no antivirus or anti-spyware software on my PC at all (or if there is it does not show in All Programs, C:\Program Files, Services, Task Manager, or the registry). * The issue of the vncviewer.exe file disappearing as soon as it is launched does NOT happen in Windows safe mode. * I have Windows XP sp2 with Internet Explorer v6 on an IBM T43 Thinkpad PC. If you or anyone on the discussion list has any ideas on how I can figure out what is causing the vncviewer.exe executable to disappear as soon as it is executed please pass along. Thanks, Mark ________________________________ VNC.exe disappears James Weatherall jnw "at" realvnc.com Fri Feb 23 09:37:00 2007 * Previous message: VNC.exe disappears <http://www.realvnc.com/pipermail/vnc-list/2007-February/057205.html> * Next message: Using VNC between two computers, two nats <http://www.realvnc.com/pipermail/vnc-list/2007-February/057204.html> * Messages sorted by: [ date ] <http://www.realvnc.com/pipermail/vnc-list/2007-February/date.html#57214 > [ thread ] <http://www.realvnc.com/pipermail/vnc-list/2007-February/thread.html#572 14> [ subject ] <http://www.realvnc.com/pipermail/vnc-list/2007-February/subject.html#57 214> [ author ] <http://www.realvnc.com/pipermail/vnc-list/2007-February/author.html#572 14> ________________________________ Jane, It sounds like you're running an anti-virus program on the computer that has mis-detected vncviewer.exe as viral and removed it. This seems to be surprisingly common, even amongst the reputable AV software products.
