You're using VNC 4.1.2 Free Edition in a Windows computer, right?

Make sure that you're using the same keyboard in both server
computer and client computer. This trap can occurs to users using
different languages, eg English and French whose keyboards have, for
example, 'A' and 'Q' keys interchanged.

Also make sure you're not inputting the password in one mode but try
to connect in the other mode. I'm talking about service mode vs user mode.
