We were running RealVNC on everything until about a year ago at which time I decided to try Ultra VNC as I needed the ability to disable the Systray Icon. Due to UVNC issues I decided to just go back to RealVNC but I wanted to go back to version 3 so I could get rid of the dreaded systray icon.
When I uninstalled UltraVNC using the Windows Add/Remove Programs function (Windows XP Professional) I got an error that said the hooks driver couldn't be removed. After that I installed RealVNC Ver. 3.3.7 but kept getting a Connection Refused error when I tried to connect to that machine. I uninstalled RealVNC and then deleted the directory from the Program Files folder and removed the ORL folder from the registry. After a reboot I reinstalled RealVNC Ver. 3.3.7. Now after I reboot I can connect to the machine prior to the Windows Logon Screen. At the logon screen I can enter the user password, but a few seconds after the Windows logon I get disconnected. After that, I'll get a Connection Refused Error. At that point the only way I can reconnect is to go into the Control Panel, Stop and then Restart the VNC service. Any ideas? Also, was there a way to completely uninstall that darn UVNC prior to installing this? Also, if I'm rolling a RealVNC 4 computer back to RealVNC 3 is there a way to completely uninstall V. 4 prior to installing V. 3? Thanks. _________________________________________________________________ Helping your favorite cause is as easy as instant messaging.
