Hello,
I have asked for help before but have gotten very little feedback,
I am running the latest version of VNC and have a US QWERTY keyboard.
When I run the vncserver and then the vncviewer on Linux I get the twm
manager and an xterm but when I type "qwerasdfzxcv" I get "c.gvabfhz/d,"
instead. And when I hit return I get a space and CTRL-/ is return, and
so on. So what is the problem? I tried commenting out the line
"xrdb $HOME/.Xresources" but that did not help as I still get the same
keyboard problem. And yes I have rebooted several times. All I am doing
is running "vncserver" on Linux and then "vncviewer :1" on Linux and
when I want to kill the application I use "vncserver -kill :1". And
if I run the vncviewer on Windows 2000 instead of on Linux and suck my
Linux desktop across the network then the problem still persists. The
only time things work the right way is when I run the vncserver on
Windows 2000 and the vncviewer on Linux. So the problem must be part of
the Linux vncserver.
If instead of running 3.3.3r2 I run 3.3.3r1 then the problem is of a
different nature. What happens in that case is I get a gray desktop
with nothing on it. When I say gray I mean gray with those thin white
strips. The window manager does not get to run, and I did comment out
the xrdb line so that's not what's causing the problem.
So where can I get a fix for this problem?
Thanks,
Neil
