Hello,

I'm currently looking into modifing the VNC server so that it may be used
with some experiements pertaining to virtual computing. I'm attempting to
determine exactly how the VNC server and the X-server relate to one
another. From what my understand is, the VNC server basically creates a
bit map and convinces the X-server that this bit map is it's display and
as a result the X-Server then draws into this bitmap as it would to a
monitor. I'm having problems pin-pointing where this is done and how (if
this is even right to begin with). So my basic question is, how does the
VNC Server get the Xserver to draw into a specific location and then how
is the notion of an Window in X implemented... The VNC server seems to
have Window Pointers but the mapping from that to an X-window isn't quite
consistant.

I hope that someone can answer my questions.
