Ik have questions about VNC. I'm using Windows Millennium

1. Why is VNC slower than other remote control-software? Netmeeting and
pcAnywhere are faster than VNC. I've got a cable modem.
2. Why does VNC not use a compression method? Doing so, VNC can work
faster.
3. Why is the option "Disable Remote Keyboard & Pointer" used with
WinVNC? I think it is not a good option, because users can easily intrude
into systems of other users..
4. Has the performance of VNC something to do with the graphical card?
5. Me myself I have internet access by a cable modem. That is much more
faster than by a telephone modem. When I am going to take over the control
of someone else's computer, then I select always at VNCViewer. "Restrict
pixels to 8-bit" and then the noisy background of the desktop will be
switched off. The purpose of "Restrict pixels to 8-bit" is getting a faster
connection with another computer, but when I use "Restrict pixels to 8-bit"
my VNC connection remains little bit slow. Why is that?
6. I've taken over another computer with a video card (VooDoo), but I
have got a normal graphical card, but it is going slow. I thought that it
was logical that a video card should work faster than a normal graphical
card. But that is not true. Why is that?
7. What is the reason that some users do not see a VNC icon in the
System tray when they start WinVNC?

Some information about my computer:
- Windows Millennium
- Pentium III, 450 MHz
- Graphical AGP XPERT 98 (VGA), 8 bytes memory
- 128 MB of RAM
- Internet by cable modem by provider @Home, 3,5 kb/s downstream and
16 kb/s upstream
