The links and release date for the Mac VNC Server have been corrected.
Thanks to Adrian for pointing this out...

Meanwhile, has anyone been able to duplicate the reported instability while
using alpha-3?  I'm about to run some tests on older machines that were not
available during my trip to Albuquerque, since I'm now back in the UK.
