I looked into this briefly a while back but didn't write any actual
code. It turned out to be more complicated than I originally thought.
It doesn't help that there's no nice way to recover from a single lost
multicast packet, unless you restrict it to being on a LAN (which is
still interesting, but not _as_ interesting..).
