Would it not be much nicer if we could have names for our vnc sessions, rather than numbers. The numbers (:1,:2,...) are just artefacts of the order the vncservers were run. It would be much nicer if I could get to a vnc session as ":simon" or ":typesetting"; then the server worries about which number to give me. Could we not have a daemon that combines a sort of name server and vncserver launcher? So when I try to login as ":fred", it checks whether ":fred" is registered, and on what basis. Then it finds the appropriate vnc session. If there wasn't one loaded, depending on some setups like max vnc sessions etc, it starts one for me. Doesn't seem to hard, or am I missing something? -- Simon Dales, Publication Software Engineer "The impossible is easy" Nuffield Press Ltd., 21 Nuffield Way, Abingdon, Oxford, OX14 1RL,UK +44-1235-558637 --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, send a message with the line: unsubscribe vnc-list to [EMAIL PROTECTED] See also: http://www.uk.research.att.com/vnc/intouch.html ---------------------------------------------------------------------
