I think it's a little presumptuous to make an assumption about the
enumeration of the universe of vnc-supported systems and then proceed to
invoke Pareto's principle as if that assumption was the unqualified and
uncontested truth.  If and when I roll vnc out to my total user base, I
will have approximately 850 clients running the product.  Most of these
clients will utilize the internet for connectivity, so security _is_ an
issue for me.
