I had the same problem

It seams to deal with color depth

after reading your comments:

kde2 works fine after running vncserver with color depth > 8

vncserver -depth 16
vncserver -depth 24 (best results for me)
vncserver -depth 32

but i don't know how to fix color depth in the   $HOME/.vnc/xstartup
file
