Scott,
Is true i have now a new extra.dat and now it's working.
I'm sharing your opinion about that McAfee has been a good pruduct.
Now it's all working correct, and it's good to see NAI takes the subject
serious now ( reaction off Vincent Gullotto the Director of Research at
McAfee ).
I hope they learned there lesson ( more software were having problem with
this update 4120 e.g. Winroute pro had the exact same problem with the
Heuristic scan it was also recognised as an NEW BACKDOOR ).

but now it works, let's hope McAfee keeps it this way ;-)

Maikel,
Having the same problem, but McAfee has been an outstanding product
over the past two + years that I have used it. This hurts though...

I've tried the Extra.dat ( i received it from NAI after sending a sample
yesterday ) but it doesn't seem to work, the only way to solve this problem
is to disable the Heuristic scan.
Anyone having ( again ) the same problem, i'm losing faith in Mcafee right
now ,sending an update but it doesn't work , frustrating !

Subject: [IMPORTANT]:McAfee VirusScan and WinVNC.exe

---
McAfee are aware of a false alarm on the file 'WinVNC.exe' with the 4120 DAT
set. The file is falsely identified as having a 'New Backdoor Trojan'
infection when scanned with Heuristics enabled. The McAfee Virus Lab have
produced an Extra.DAT file which can act as a temporary fix to this issue.

If you have experienced this issue please submit a copy of the file (in a
password protected ZIP (password 'infected')) to [EMAIL PROTECTED] The lab
team will then forward you the appropriate negative extra driver.

This issue will be resolved by the 4121 DAT release
---

This notice applies to users of both the standard VNC and the Tridia
distribution.

Cheers,

James "Wez" Weatherall
