Yes, it's an Xaw bug. The easiest way to prevent it is to use
vncviewer from the command-line instead.
If someone could craft a minimal Xt application that uses
asciiSink.echo to demonstrate the bug in order to show the X people
the bug, that would be great. I had a go, but I'm no X hacker.
