I'm investigating using the vnc viewer in place of an X server on an old X terminal. My original reason for this was that the display-card on the terminal is not very fast; consequently I wondered whether I could just redisplay a screen which was rapidly-rendered (eventually, when I get a fast box) on another machine using VNC. However after a brief perusal of the VNC mailing list archives I noticed a few messages saying that the VNC X server is unaccelerated. I'd not realised this as I didn't know how the VNC system worked. On an X mailing list I saw a message saying that it would be possible to (IIRC) produce a VNC 'module' (presumably in Xfree4), but there were no replies there. What is the situation with respect to this? Would such a thing be possible, and would it act at as a 'card' or 'monitor'? If the latter, or if 'filters' are possible, then could this enable an accelerated VNC server? Many thanks, -- Neil --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, send a message with the line: unsubscribe vnc-list to [EMAIL PROTECTED] See also: http://www.uk.research.att.com/vnc/intouch.html ---------------------------------------------------------------------
