i am happy to let everyone know that i solved my problem.

i got the source code and compiled it. now everything works fine.
it looks like i got the wrong binaries initially.

i think i should have got binaries for XFree86 as shown by the
comments at the end of the successful compilation.

if there is anyone who needs the binaries i have them ready.
