I'm happy to say that there's a solution for you - look at the URL in my
signature, and download a newer version of the Macintosh server from there.
With this, you'll get to use Ctrl+Alt as a Command key, and it should be a
bit more stable to boot.  There are still a few bugs and a lot of missing
features, but I'm working on these as I get time.
