The -indirect feature is broken in the X11 Xserver distribution from MIT
(e.g. it also doesn't work on NCD xterminals). The server is supposed to
re-broadcast the indirect query within a few seconds of the chooser
being closed, but it doesn't, so all you ever get is a chooser then
nothing.

The -once option applies to the X session, not the vnc session. You
should find the server closes itself down with -once if you logoff (so
that xdm disconnects) - as oppposed to simply disconnecting your
vncviewer.

Incidentally, if -indirect is made to work, then -once has to be
interpretted as "twice" inside the Xserver since the chooser counts as
one session.
