The script you're loading the window manager (or other client) from should
work. Put xsetroot before the window manager command, since the window
manager won't return control to the script until it exits.

Subject: When I call Xvnc directly (not using the vncserver script...)

How do I have it so the background is solid black instead of
the lattice black and white thing?

I need to have 'xsetroot -solid black' called at some point.

What file do I have to modify?

thanks!
