You've probably thought of this already, but

a) did you install this as a user with local administrative rights??

b) Are you trying to remove it/stop/start it as a user with local
administrative rights??

Just a thought.

Subject: NT4Server: VNC Service Won't Stop

Problem:
WinVNC.exe service running, but won't stop. Will not accept connections or
respond in any way.

Environment:
Windows NT4.0 Server w/Service Pack 5, VNC v3.3.3r7_x86_win32

Efforts so far:
NT4 Service Manager has WinVNC.exe as an installed service, and is not
running. Trying to start it gives error message that it is already running.
Net Stop WinVNC does not work.
Manually launching WinVNC.exe does not work.
Manually launching WinVNC.exe -kill does not work.
Manually launching WinVNC.exe with any switch gives no response.
Task Manager gives an "Acces Denied" error when trying to close the process
from its list.
Still trying other things?

Any help would be appreciated.
