The AT&T client does tend to give better performance -I suspect this could be due to the application frameworks the newer ones have to pass through for TCP/IP etc. (Any comment, Dair?) It's just pity that the AT&T client tends to be unreliable for any serious use (at least, I find it so...) And as for the Mac server...! But I have not found either VNCThing or VNCDimension to be too slow. What encodings are you using for each of the clients? (And on servers?) >-- neither of the OSX clients support the use of commmand-2 and >command-3 for the extra mouse buttons which the AT&T one does. They both allow middle/right button emulation through modifier clicks. But it would be nice if they were more configurable in this regard. >-- VNCDimension does not like UK keyboards: just where is # meant to be? Is this viewing an Xvnc server? I recall having the same trouble, but I now don't use it often with Xvnc. It seems fine with a Mac server (ChromiVNC), in that shift-3 gives a pound (#) and alt-3 gives hash (#). -And just to prove it, I've actually typed all of this e-mail onto my PB Duo 2300 running ChromiVNC via my G4 cube running VNCDimension! (Hmmm -hope it does not get changed 'in transit' or at the other end by e-mailers...) I suspect that messing around with the keymappings in your X server may actually help sort it out - if you run 'xev' and look at the events generated by all these keys you could probably figure it out. (Maybe I should have a go, too -I just don't connect to Xvnc often enough these days for it to be a problem...) I do have a recollection that using the keypad I could could get a hash (i.e. shift keypad-3, or something), which is probably why I never bothered to try and sort it out. >I would really like to know if anyone else has had strange problems >with VNC viewers under OSX. Yes, different things (see previous post), but not so bad as to render them unusable... Bye!
