Dear List,

I have a Windows 2000 Professional system, which I want to use as a
vnc-server. When I start vncserver as user in "App Mode" and try to connect
from a W98, NT or XP vncviewer, shortly after displaying the initial screen,
the client dies. The Java Viewer tells:

java.net.SocketException: SocketClosed.

I then tried to install vncserver as service (using the remote Domain
Administrator account) and with this I am able to connect to the W2000
system, the login screen is displayed and I am able to log into the box, but
as soon as my desktop is displayed the viewer dies.

If the vncserver
service is started by the local administrator account, I am able to log and
use the box once (disconnecting -without logging out-, reconnecting ->
client dies).

If the server is started by an administrator, connecting is no problem.

Has anybody experienced similar problem?
Can anybody comment on possible causes?
What permissions are missing?

TIA,

Jens Scheidtmann
