here's my config, it's working well on WInxp and win 2000 pro in both
directions.
server:
HKLM\Software\ORL\WinVNC3\"AllowLoopback"=dword:00000001
Openssh
VNC running as a service on port 5969
client:
sshclient with tunneling from port 5002 (client) to 5969 (server)
viewer conencting to localhost:5002
Everything work fine in those conditions.
If I add
HKLM\Software\ORL\WinVNC3\"LoopbackOnly"=dword:00000001
to the server system, I can't continue connecting from the client but it's
still working on the server (viewer on the server conencting to
localhost:5969)
I thought that should continue working through SSH but it doesn't.
I hope this will help you.

Objet : "Backwards" VNC, take 2
Hey all,
I tried the suggestions that I received with the following results:
- - OpenSSH server running on "Support" machine
- - SSH Client run on "User" machine:
ssh -N -l vncuser -L 5500:support-ip:5500 support-ip
- - Connection established
- - Reg Keys on "Support" and "User" set:
HKLM\Software\ORL\WinVNC3\"AllowLoopback"=dword:00000001
HKLM\Software\ORL\WinVNC3\"LoopbackOnly"=dword:00000001
- - VNC Viewer started on "Support" in listen mode
vncviewer -listen
- - VNC Server started on "User"
winvnc -run
winvnc -connect 127.0.0.1
Before, when I was trying on the wrong port, I would get no response from
either PC. Now, I get the following error:
===============================================
VNC info
^
/!\ Local loop-back connections are disabled.
- ---
[ OK ]
===============================================
I've gone as far as to add the above registry values to the following keys
as well (with no change in the results):
HKCU\Software\ORL\WinVNC3
HKCU\Software\ORL\VNCviewer
HKCU\Software\ORL\VNCviewer\Settings
Any ideas?
