First, I'd like to say that after year of chatter. i think I might be
getting my MU on. The gallery, complete with a piece on Kovoso, is nearing
completion...

and on back to our regularly scheduled conversation.

>That's why I was wondering if Sony might seize the oppurtunity.
>Perhaps you could help me understand the VNet - blaxxun interrelationship.
>It seems to me that if VNet were to continue to develop further that it
>could eventually end up competing in some ways with blaxxun. Not to
>sound paranoid, but if anyone could outflank VNet development it would be
>you or Jeff. I HATE saying this but... If VNet gets really "good" at MU
>then would it not be Jeff's RESPONSIBILITY to counter it? Please tell me
>I'm all wrong...

You are all wrong ;^} ( and do you have me confused with Stephen White ;^) ?
I'm just a content guy - anything I do is conceptually based and so any MU
can takes my ideas...

VNet - blaxxun interrelationship? They are both MU but that's really it,
The communities are moderately supportive or at least "openly tolerant" of
each other. As far a Jeff goes, the odds of VNet competing with Blaxxun in
the near to mid future aren't very high. And even if it did happen, Jeff
would fight fair.

>what do you mean by "smaller"?
read the X3D goals - you'll find phrase lightweight cropping up and also
the content niches they seek are not very high-end. But I suggest you view
their docs
http://www.web3D.org/TaskGroups/x3d/X3dIndex.html

>I keep wondering if there will be a 2 tier VRML browser market.
Maybe - read the X3D documents.

>bank on it ;-)
>My company will be empowering VRML developers and digital artists
>to do just that. The first potential investor (a year and a half
>ago) I had called my ideas "gobbley gook". Well that "gook" went
>to market this week 8-)

>the next month. I just want to develop and tinker, but as I have
>found out, every time I want to let the community know about
>something interesting we have to protect ourselves first and that

>We look forward to the commercial possibilities ;-)

well yahoo, good luck, and by all means protect yourself.
