Hi Bruce;

Well, we do have RAT, an open-source multicast audio tool linked
in with Vnet on the linux platform - it allows proximities, so that
when you get close to people, you can talk to them.

Dynamic groups of from 2 to whatever groups can be created; you can
"walk" with people; go over and join in a conversation, and all
that kind of stuff.

Well, we'll try it with about 3 or 4 workstations; had problems
with PCI-128 soundcards and the latest version of RAT. I think
that on Friday we solved the last of the problems.

Famous last words. :-)

The source code to FreeWRL is on http://www.crc.ca/FreeWRL/

The audio proximity stuff is not there, nor is the slightly modified
version of RAT. I'll put this stuff there when it is fairly
stable.

Thanks;

John Stewart
