The news for gay marriage advocates hasn't been especially good lately. But today the West Virginia state house defeated a proposed state constitutional amendment limiting marriage to one man and one woman. The defeat is especially significant because, in a legislative body in which the GOP enjoys a 41-19 advantage, [1]sixteen Republicans joined all nineteen Democrats to vote against.
