In addition ensure that you are using TCP/IP to connect to the SQL Server and not the default 'Named Pipes'. Whilst you won't see a great deal of performance benefits on a LAN it does provide other benefits. I'm going to presume that the errors you are experiencing are being logged in the VOP Radius log file. If this is the case and you are using TCP/IP you could increase the Listen Sockets on the SQL Server allowing it to handle more simultaneous connections. By default SQL Server runs 5 threads internally which can be expanded.
