Shults assisted Gene with the replication, but I do not think they ever observed any clear results. The calorimetry was extremely primitive. The electrochemistry was unusual because there were no salts in the electrolyte (so not much electrolysis). The only other researcher I know of who has claimed success without salts is M. Swartz.
