The makings for even more conspiracy theories! 8^) They really need but maybe now especially don't want a lichen expert to get involved. High altitude arctic lichens, if not already survivable on Mars, can be bred here on earth to survive in Martian conditions. It would be (and has been) a very good science project for some teenager.
