The weather bureau is located about 4 miles south of me at the
airport. I realize that the downtown area is a heat island, However I
was in a residential area to the south of it. No asphalt, no direct
sun. I realize that the temperatures vary some, OTOH, 8 degrees,
seems a little extreme. You're right, conspiracy theories are
credibility shredders.
