This is incorrect on two accounts.  First, PdD does not produce helium in
the same ratio as plasma fusion reactors.  Here are the ratios that plasma
fusion reactors would produce, if DD were the primary reaction in plasma
fusion reactors (which it is not, for the most part):

   - d(d,n)3He ~ 50 percent
   - d(d,p)t ~ 50 percent
   - d(d,G)4He < 0.1 percent

For this reason alone it is not obviously a dd reaction.  In addition,
there are other reasons that it might not be a dd reaction.  Perhaps you
are not persuaded by them. We're each entitled to our opinion.
