Ha ! I know you meant this as somewhat of a joke, Bob - but ... it may not be that far off.

I would say that the frequency of it was around 100 Hz and very constant - unlike anything in nature and no Doppler.

Because of McClellan AFB (which would have been the destination) we do get the occasional sonic boom here, as the ocean lets it reverberate for quite some distance - and they are prohibited from going supersonic over land - but even 50 klics offshore it can be very loud when conditions are right.
