Some of the objects in the above black and white photos appear to move sideways, not just sublimate. More than just ice? Stuff growing? Small moving things at the bottom of the photo, just beyond the end of the trench, look like little balls on top of growing stalks. The the effect is not just due to a changing sun angle. Two stalks at the bottom lip of the right hand trench move in opposed directions.
