You would think so, but this has not been a major problem with Linux, which is the largest open-source software project in the world, and it is not a problem with the Apache HTTP server, which runs on just about every server in the world. Google will have much tighter control over the core than anyone has over Linux.

This is as much of a threat to Linux as much as it is to Microsoft. Maybe more of a threat, according to InformationWeek:
